Yesterday I brought my F800GS to the shop to have two recalls done. One was to reroute the drain hose from the charcoal canister tank venting system and the other to get a new chain and sprockets. For the day I got a loaner bike. As seen in the picture, it's a 2003 R1150GS - a real dinosaur. Felt like a heavy pig to lug around compared to my F800GS, also the seat felt higher (might be in the high setting, haven't checked) and the foot pegs are really in the way, I hit my legs a couple times. Overall, the bike is really old and with around 129,500 miles really not the newest ... amazing that it still runs.
Unfortunately, SJ BMW didn't get all a the parts in so they wanted to keep my F for today. As the parts still weren't complete I got my bike back and will bring it in again next week.
Overall, I didn't like the R1150GS. And that's not because of it being old but because of it being really heavy and somehow weird feeling. Definitely not my thing. I'm pretty happy that I didn't buy one last year when I was looking at used ones. I wouldn't have liked it for a "Long Way Round" trip.
Should it really be that far leaned over when on the centerstand?
