As the weather was almost perfect today - 15 degrees Celsius and sunny, I decided that it was time to try out the new Aeroflow XL windshield together with the Aeroguards which have arrived last week. I had them sitting in the office as I forgot them a couple times there as I wasn't riding anyways in the last couple days, but on Friday I brought them home and installed them yesterday.
It's quite a difference compared to the windshield alone. I can only recommend, if you get the windshield, get the Aeroguards, too. I did and I am very pleased with the results. There is minimal noise left riding 65mph (~100km/h) and up, but that is really to be expected when riding a motorcycle. A BMW R1200RT might be better, but for the F800GS I think I have achieved the best results possible with the windshield / guards combination. No buffeting at all, up to 55mph no turbulence at all and above it's so minimal, it's hardly worth mentioning.
The installation was straight forward, everything done with 3M Dual Lock (kind of plastic velcro) attached (glued) to the fairing and windshield. It wasn't a perfect fit first, I loosened the windshield in all screws, then attached the Aeroguards but they still wouldn't fit perfectly. Nevertheless I mounted them, put a screw clamp on overnight and today everything was fine when I took the clamps off. Took me about 45 minutes to install with cleaning the important places first, attaching the dual lock pads and then putting everything in place. Illustrated manual is good enough.

The whole setup is kind of big now, I wouldn't want to ride off-road with that, but that's not planned for the near future anyways as there are mainly tours planned with Andrea but she will definitely not ride on anything but paved roads. Which I think is appropriate given that she's a fairly new motorcycle rider and her Suzuki V-Strom DL650 is too heavy for her on uneven ground anyways. So any trips in the near future will stay on roads. I might take that big shield off in the summer time to get some more wind - or just get an Aeroflow jacket and be done with it.
My trip today was about two hours of fun riding in the Santa Cruz Mountains. I went over 85 and 17 to Bear Creek road, up to Skyline Boulevard, down Highway 9 to Santa Cruz, turned left to Bear Creek Road again in Boulder Creek, again up to Skyline, this time coming from the west, over Skyline to Highway 9 again, this time turning right to get home again. It was a nice trip. Temperature was nice enough, around 15 degrees Celsius as said, sunny all the time, in the woods there were damp patches and some parts of Bear Creek Road were slippery, so I was pretty careful there, but overall a good ride.
Und bei uns schneit es mal wieder... Bis übermorgen dann!!!
